BRIDGE (Project Closed)

Bridge Program, lead by Winrock International in collaboration with its partners (RTI International, ACDI/VOCA, GOAL, NCA and Pact, was initiated in March 2009 with the goal of strengthening Sudanese capacity to fulfill the promise of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in the states of Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap and Unity. Pact Sudan has been implementing Component 4 of the program: Increase access to safe water and sanitation in a Sustainable Manner.

This component has three main objectives:

1. To build government capacity to deliver improved water and sanitation services in Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Unity, and Warrap states.
2. To build community and local government capacity to collaborate in the planning, building, operation, and maintenance of water and sanitation systems in Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Unity and Warrap.
3. To strengthen private sector involvement in Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Unity, and Warrap.

These objectives encompass a number of activities, including the drilling of over 100 new boreholes, rehabilitating over 400 broken boreholes, constructing school and household latrines, as well as conducting hygiene and sanitation trainings for thousands of people throughout the three States.
